4 weeks post Oophorectomy

Well it's now been 4 weeks since I had my surgery and I was starting to feel better. But due to bone pain and implant pain, my GP has now added Lyrica to my concoction of medication, of which I don't want any.

My scars are healed and tummy pain is lessening, just wish the rest would follow! See picture below for all my meds! Reminds me of chemo days and the most pills I've ever popped in my life, bad memories, but hey I'm still here. F U CANCER!

So Saturday I had a little drive around the village and even managed to drive 18 miles to work and back on Monday. But sadly I've not driven since due to my new meds (Lyrica/Pregabalin, used for my neuropathic pain) I'm really dizzy in a morning. So on top of me not being able to function in a morning I'm now dizzy too. Hopefully  that won't last long once I get them in my system.

I can't function in a morning due to bone pain, it is partly due to chemo after effects and Anastrozole the cancer meds I have to take to keep it away. I get out of bed and hobble along, shuffling my feet slowly. My ankles and knees are agony, it feels like they are grinding together with every step I take. I somehow manage to get downstairs to the bathroom. About an hour or two later I am almost mobile and can walk again. Can you get a bed that moves and keeps you mobile during the night haha, but then would you sleep through that!

On the 16th July we went to the Extonbury festival in our village and had an wonderful day, they raised £4,000 for Rutland Air Ambulance which is amazing. I've had a henna tattoo from the wonderful Sami at Olive tanning studios, getting myself ready for my India trip next year I hope, surgery and healing after depending.

Still waiting on a surgery date from my Plastic Surgeon, will it be August or September! The sooner the better as I'm in so much pain I just want to chop my right tit off!

So what colour hair suits me best, let me know below. Have a good week one and all and enjoy the summer at last! xx

My 3rd hair colour this year!

Looking at the picture, on the left is my contracture capsulated implant!

Cows on a little walk around the village.

My hair was meant to be purple, but as you can see it came out pink!

The pink is leaving my hair with every wash.

Enjoying a Pimms in the garden.

Henna the night it was done.

Henna 10pm same night after washed it all off.

2 weeks post Oophorectomy

Well it's been 2 weeks since my Oophorectomy surgery and I'm very tired, fed up and still sore. Yesterday I somehow managed to pull a stitch out of one of my scars (of which I have 4), it bled a little and left a little hole. So I visited my GP as I was also worried I might have an infection, he taped up my open wound as it's almost healed and I don't seem to have an infection, otherwise healing well. So I'm back next Wednesday and hopefully I'll be able to drive then. It can't come quick enough, I'm going stir crazy stuck at home, luckily I work all day, so it's just the evenings when I'm on my own, and I'm really struggling. I've had one visitor in the last 2 weeks apart from close family of course. It was great to get out the weekend, which helped with my sanity and I'm over the road at our local pub Saturday for Extonbury, the annual music festival, which will hopefully cheer me up.

Since seeing the Plastic surgeon a few weeks ago to sort out my Capsular Contracted implant, I've had lots to think about, as in what surgery I want, back/thigh/belly flap to make half a new boob, IF my skin does die (due to the radiotherapy). Which he thinks there is a high possibility as it is so thin and lacking in blood supply! He really needs to know this before I go under the knife so he doesn't have to wake me up when exchanging my implants and removing the horrid ports. He recommends back flap, but I hear so many people have limited mobility after this, even years down the line. What to do, will this cancer rigmarole ever end!

Capsular contracture
In the first year or so after an implant operation, tough fibrous tissue builds up around the implant to form a ‘capsule’. This happens because the body sees the implant as a foreign object and wants to isolate it. In most cases this capsule stays soft and supple but sometimes it tightens around the implant, making the breast feel hard and sometimes painful. This is known as capsular contracture. Radiotherapy can cause capsular contracture, which is why women having this treatment may not be recommended to have reconstruction using an implant alone.

Fortunately, capsular contracture is now less common. This might be because implants have a textured outer surface that reduces the amount of scar tissue that forms around the implant. There are different degrees of capsular contracture and in mild cases no treatment is necessary. Occasionally the contracture is severe enough to make the breast feel hard and look misshapen. In these cases the implant may need to be surgically removed with or without replacement of the implant.

Don't look any further if you have a queezy tummy.

Ouch!

Looking better today! But looks like a reaction to sticking plaster.

My right (left on pic) has capsular contraction!

Race For Life 2016, Himley Hall, Dudley

Race For Life 2016 at Himley Hall, Dudley, West Midlands with my family. We had a great day and the sun shone long enough for them to all get round the 5k in 50 minutes, great time as last year was about an hour. Also a great time for Carol and Lizzie the dog as it was their first time.

I'm glad I left my number at home as I really wanted to go round with them. Instead I sat and waited with my mom and dad. I'm still not up to driving as still very sore, so it was great to get out, thanks to my brother for fetching me. Going a bit stir crazy not going far, but glad for my work and that I can work from home.

Next year I will do all the Races in Rutland and Wolverhampton. No surgery to stop me then.
